Modern Izakaya concept. 5 stars across food, service and atmosphere. Quality food, nice plating done on sashimi, very attentive and warm service right from entering the restaurant. And the atmosphere was nice and great for dining. Price point is not low by Johor standards. 2 pax ordered the food in pictures roughly 450rm. All the staffs including chefs, waitress and asst manager were hospitable and had positive vibes.

a small and really nice cosy sushi restaurant recommended by many singaporeans, reservation needed but very very quality food! i ordered 1 tempura, 5 pcs, 1 bara chirashi, 7 pcs sushi and 1 chawanmushi, all for $58 SGD only, really affordable!! and quality!! food is goog but english of the filipino staff is VERY bad. they poured in ice hojicha instead of ice water in my drink, they went to redo it once ans came back with ICED TEA, only on the THIRD TIME did they get it correct. like how hard is it to screw up ice water?

There were 2 vip rooms, a couple of four seater tables and around 10 could seat at the chairs facing the chefs. It felt like a fine dining and posh place with dim lights and beautifully decorated restaurant. We got their salmon sashimi that came in 5 thick slices, marinated octopus in wasabi which had an overwhelming amt of wasabi, tempura set with udon which was quite ordinary tbh, chawanmushi with prawns that was really good, ocha tea, fresh beer and salmon mentaiko sushi roll that was average as well. Overall, the food was average at best but for the price point, it wss definitely much cheaper than in sg.

The 5 kinds sashimi is fresh & yummy; tempura, hamachi & soft shell crab maki. Love their cutlery, each bowls & plates are different. Elevated the dinning experience. Came here to celebrate our anniversary. Good choice. We came slightly bef the dinning crowds without any reservations. Sat at the bar table. The cherry on the cake is after the boss saw my review & realised we are there to celebrate our anniversary, he surprised us w a free yuzu ice-cream! So thoughtful! Tysm!

Kyu Izakaya Restaurant really impressed me, especially with their salmon dishes. The salmon was incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked, and had that melt-in-your-mouth texture that’s hard to get right. You can tell they don’t cut corners with ingredient quality. What truly stood out was the miso. It was rich, deep, and beautifully balanced—not too salty, not overpowering, just pure umami comfort. Paired with the salmon, it elevated the dish to another level and made every bite feel intentional and well-thought-out. Overall, Kyu Izakaya delivers a very satisfying and memorable dining experience. If you’re someone who appreciates good salmon and well-crafted miso flavours, this place is absolutely worth visiting. I’d gladly come back just for these dishes alone.

Located near Pelangi .. along a row of new shop houses. Place is nicely decorated and clean. Menu features Japanese fares, with some interesting menu presentations. Tried their Bone Marrow, nicely cooked and I like how the bone still has the oily look and nice aroma - only minus point is the portion ... which is a bit small .. not even enough to spread on the bun that came along. Sake Atama Nabe was nicely presented, fresh fish head and vegetables - nice soup base that goes well with the Garlic Fried Rice. Only two of us .. so, could not try the rest of their food, but I will definitely be back !!! Polite and Helpful Staffs too !!!
